NSM orders magnets for scrap supply

A continuous scrap supply was required for the 330 t/h electric arc furnance (scarp density 1 to 2.8) at the new steel works of NSM Nakornthai Strip Mill Public Co. Ltd., Thailand.

Two cranes with a capacity of 40 t each were available for this task.

Most diverse types of scrap are stored at a distance of 50 to 100 m. An ambient temperature of  50 °C and humidity of 90 % are not unusual.

For this task Egon Evertz KG developed a special magnet with a lifting force of more than 250 t. A special cross-beam with integrated weighing system and a special impact exitation for the magnet ensure optimum loading of the different sorts of scrap. Each of the two magnets in operation at a time is 6 m long and 2.2 m wide.
