Classical concert in the factory hall 11

Bravo calls for Grieg and Mozart.

Mario Liepe, director of Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt, maintains contact with his former place of work in Solingen. The well-known music academy, where celebrities such as Clara Schumann and Hans Pfitzner have taught, maintains an orchestra of students that performs in various formations and offers its members the opportunity to acquire orchestral routine at an early age. With a summer symphonic program, "The Evertz Group" presented the ensemble on Saturday in Plant Hall 11 as part of its corporate culture. Mario Liepe paid tribute to the company's cultural commitment at a time when private initiatives are becoming increasingly important. The concert began with Edvard Grieg's suite in the old style "From Holberg's time " The Norwegian composer drew here on old dance forms such as gavotte and sarabande. A string formation under the direction of the violin teacher Barbara Kummer Buchberger brought the work very appealingly to hearing. In October 1791, Mozart wrote his only concerto for his lion brother, the famous clarinettist Anton Stadler. Two months before his death, he succeeded in writing a work of the greatest depth and compositional perfection. The solo instrument sings like a human voice. This was also the feeling of Maya Pinzolas, whose rendition of the solo part was rewarded with loud bravos at the end. She received optimal support from the now full orchestra under the direction of its permanent conductor Helmut Sohler. The young members of the orchestra were very enthusiastic during the last part of the program. Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony, the "Italian" is one of his most popular works. The first movement, Allegro vivace, immediately created a summery, cheerful atmosphere and at the end, in the "Saltarello", one could practically see the girls dancing with their tambourines.

Light classical music for the summer

BY WOLFGANG GÜNTHER
For four years, musician Mario Liepe headed the music school in Solingen, and since 2008 he has presided over the renowned private music academy Dr. Hoch's Konservatorium in Frankfurt as director. However, contact with Solingen has never been broken, and this is largely thanks to the Evertz family of entrepreneurs, who are known for their valuable corporate culture. The Solingen Music School has a spacious home in the company's buildings at Birkenweiher, and company boss Egon Evertz, himself a passionate violinist, regularly converts his exhibition hall into a concert hall, inviting many guests and entertaining them with drinks and music. This was the fourth time that Mario Liepe and the complete symphony orchestra of the Frankfurt Conservatory had come to Solingen for a concert; in exchange, the Bergische Symphoniker had given a guest performance in Frankfurt in February. - The orchestra's strings kicked off the concert with the suite "From Holberg's Times" by Edvard Grieg, who wanted to memorialize the Danish poet Ludvig Holberg with this music. The high level of training at the Frankfurt Conservatory was demonstrated by string instructor Barbara Kummer-Buchberger. The conductor's podium remained empty, the violinist trusted her students and played in the ensemble. Then conductor Helmut Sohler took the lead over the complete orchestra. As upbeat as Grieg's "Suite from the Old Days" is the music in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. The beautiful "Concerto in A major" is the last instrumental work completed by Mozart, he composed it shortly before his death in 1791. As soloist, the young clarinetist Maya Pinzolas inspired. She mastered the virtuosic challenges of the first movement with great artistry, but also knew how to interpret the lyrical Adagio of the second movement wonderfully. This music will have sounded familiar to some listeners, as it is often used as film music. After the extensive intermission, the program included the Symphony No. 4 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. It is called "The Italian", and this was the exactly fitting conclusion to a symphony concert with light, but not undemanding classical music for a summer evening.
